Politician: "Assange stalemate must end"

The Liberal Party's judicial spokesperson Johan Pehrson wants Swedish prosecutors to take another look at the investigation into the case against Julian Assange, Swedish Television SVT reports.

Assange is suspected in Sweden of sexual harassment and rape. The Wikileaks-founder has spent over a year at the Ecuadorian embassy in London and fears he would be extradited to the US if he should go to Sweden for the trial. Johan Perhson of the Liberal Party now urges the Swedish prosecution to get the case moving.

"It's an exceptional case and that's why I think the prosecution should take another look at it and maybe get it out of the way for good. The case has major political and international implications, no one benefits from this," Pehrson says to SVT.
