Explosion and bomb threat hits Malmö courts

A powerful explosion occurred Sunday night outside the district court in Malmö and only a few hours later on Monday morning a bomb threat was made against the Court of Appeals in Malmö, news agency TT reports.

People were evacuated from the Court of Appeals and several nearby streets were blocked off. The suspected bomb arrived by mail and the parcel contained a harmless USB stick.

The explosion Sunday night only caused material damage and shattered glass, but no one was injured.

Police say that there have been no known threats to either building but say that the explosion may have had something to do with a recent initiative to combat organised crime in Malmö.
