The National Food Administration is too relaxed about the hormone-altering substance bisphenol A, according to five scientists.

In an op-ed piece in the daily Dagens Nyheter, the professors say there is no scientific evidence supporting the authority's recently published view that the amount of bisphenol A that people are normally are exposed to, is not enough to damage their health.

The five scientists say it is too soon to sound the all clear. They refer to several studies linking the substance to health hazards, and say that there is a great uncertainty as to what levels are safe and what are not.
