Too warm for Viking route skating race

Forecasts for mild weather have led organizers to cancel this year's Vikingarännet skating race for safety reasons. This is the fourth time since the race started in 1999 that it has had to be called off, because of mild weather.

The race is 80 kilometers long, and runs between Uppsala and Stockholm along an old Viking route, according to the Vikingarännet website.

The race was supposed to take place on February 16.

Ornäsrännet outside of Borlänge, Krogrännet in and around Stockholm, and Siljanskrinnet on the Orsasjön, are races that have also been cancelled.
