Johansson to replace injured Sedin in Tre Kronor

Washington's Marcus Johansson is to replace injured Henrik Sedin in the Swedish ice hockey team at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, team manager Pär Mårts announced Friday.

That would indicate that Henrik Zetterberg would be used as the first centre in the games, the original plan was that Niklas Bäckström would take that roll, news agency TT reports.

One of Sweden's most important ice hockey players, Vancouver's Sedin announced last night he would not be able to join the national team Tre Kronor in the Winter Olympics due to injury.

Henrik Sedin and his twin brother Daniel were key figures in the Swedish gold medal in the recent World Championships, but a rib injury has not healed, meaning he will not make the trip to Russia.

The Winter Olympics officially kick-off today with the opening ceremony in Sochi.
