A sign of spring as crane lands in Sweden

The year's first crane has been spotted in Sweden, by the Hornborgasjön lake in the south-west, Swedish Radio's local P4 Skaraborg station reports.

Åke Abrahamsson, chairman of a local ornithological society, said that the crane arrived alone and unusually early. Spring's first crane usually lands in Sweden in early March.

Mild southern winds and an unusually warm winter are the reasons behind the early arrival, according to Abrahamsson.
