"It’s a fun ride": Lena Olin on life in Hollywood

9:56 min

The daughter of actress Britta Holmberg and actor Stig Olin, Swedish film star Lena Olin made her international breakthrough with The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988) in a leading part for which she won a Golden Globe. Having appeared in a number of plays and over 30 films, some by her director husband Lasse Hallström, Lena Olin will next be seen on the small screen on Swedish television in TV4's romcom series Welcome to Sweden.

She plays Viveka, the prospective mother-in-law of accountant Bruce (Greg Poehler) who moves to Sweden from America to live with his girlfriend Emma (Josephine Bornebusch). The romantic-comedy series is based on Greg Poehler's own life about being a stranger in a strange land and whether love can blossom across cultural barriers.

Radio Sweden's Dave Russell spoke to Lena Olin about her role in the series and her own life in America and Sweden, saying life as a Hollywood star is a "fun and exciting ride".
