Local-government heads convicted over suicide

Two bosses in a municipality in the northern county of Jämtland have been convicted after an employee who felt harrassed at work committed suicide in 2009, news agency TT reports.

The bosses were found guilty of manslaughter and have been sentenced to pay fines of SEK 50,000 and SEK 23,000, respectively, according to local media.

The employee had told his bosses that he felt vulnerable, but was told that he was not doing his job properly and was let go. He took his own life the same day.

According to the defense, the bosses had done everything they could to help, but the court said they didn't do enough.
