Social Democrats and Eurosceptics could be big winners in European election

The centre-left parties and anti-EU parties look like being the winners in the upcoming European parliamentary election, according to a new study by the organisation Votewatch, news agency TT reports.

If their analysis of public opinion is correct, then the centre-left Socialists and Democrats group would become the largest group in the European Parliament after May's elections. The centre-right European Peoples' Party group would fall back somewhat.

Almost a third of the vote across the continent could also go to parties that are sceptical to the European Union. They include parties from both extremes of the political spectrum, including the Swedish Left Party and Sweden Democrats.
