Volkswagen places bid on Scania shares

German carmaker Volkswagen has placed a bid of SEK 60 billion for the remaining shares in Swedish truck-maker Scania, news agency TT reports. Volkswagen already owns the majority of the shares in Scania.

Scania's stocks have increased in value ever since The Wall Street Journal wrote that Volkswagen wanted to buy up more of the Swedish company's shares earlier this month. The German company already owns 69 percent of Scania but says to news agency TT that they would like more control over the company to integrate Scania more with their truck-maker branch MAN.
