Employment service fiddled with statistics

An employment service office in southern Sweden has admitted to having fiddled with their unemployment figures for over ten years, Swedish Television SVT reports. Former employees at the employment service office say they filed unemployed people as employed to skew the figures to make them appear better than they actually were.

Anders Gustafsson, a former employee at the Employment Service office in Arlöv, is one of the people who confirms the manipulated figures.

"We recoded the numbers so that the statistics would looks better. We had very high targets to meet every month and it's a lot of pressure," Gustafsson says.
