Three vice presidents resign in protest as criticised vice-chancellor remains at university

Three vice presidents at Uppsala University north of Stockholm have handed in their resignations in protest against the decision by the university's board not to fire Vice-chancellor Eva Åkesson, Swedish Radio Uppsala reports.

The three vice presidents, their respective deputies and eight deans have submitted an official letter to the board of the university, asking for vice-chancellor Eva Åkesson to step down immediately. The university's board has assessed the situation and announced today that there is not enough ground to fire Åkesson based on the letter.

The reasons for the dissatisfaction remain unknown.
