Bildt: Yanukovych has resigned "by all standards"

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt believes the Ukraine's new government must "get to the root of all corrupt structures," according to a Tweet he posted Thursday morning.

Later in the afternoon, Bildt tweeted that it seems "as if Viktor Yanukovych now has confirmed that he has abandoned his position and fled his country", adding that this essentially means Yanukovich has resigned.

"I would urge Yanukovych to immediately return to Kiev, explain why he abandoned his position and declare all his financial interests," Bildt wrote.

Yanukovych is scheduled to hold a press conference in southern Russia on Friday afternoon and has said he still considers himself president, according to AP.
