Agency head: "Åkesson makes me want to vomit"

"Normally I keep to social insurance. But J Åkesson in the debate makes me vomit!" That's what Social Insurance Agency chief Dan Eliasson wrote in a tweet yesterday evening, about Jimmie Åkesson, leader of the Sweden Democrat party, which is anti-immigrant and has been hit by several scandals over racism.

Jimmie Åkesson responded to the tweet, saying he thinks Eliasson should be fired.

In a debate last night on SVT, Åkesson described the stark contrast between the experiences of Swedes and those of immigrants in Sölvesborg, the town where he grew up in the 1980s.

News agency TT asked Eliasson why Åkesson made him want to vomit. He told them that Åkesson's claims, about his experiences in Sölvesborg were "affecting me very, very negatively,"

When asked if he thought it violated the neutrality of government officials, Eliasson said to TT, "I just wrote what I experienced. Some might think it sensational, others that it was right and proper."
