Taxis must state highest price before driving off

Taxi companies with comparatively high fares will be forced to inform customers of the maximum end price before the trip begins, according to a new report issued by the Transport Agency.

"We think that this will be one way to help people avoid being tricked into paying inflated prices," Infrastructure Minister Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd told Swedish Radio.

The proposal means that taxi companies that charge more than SEK 500 per 10 km should inform customers of the highest possible price before beginning the voyage.
