Persbrandt sentenced to community service

Swedish actor, know internationally as "Beorn" in the movie "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," had been sentenced to five months in prison. However, the Svea Court of Appeals today changed the sentence to community service instead.

On 15 April this year Persbrandt was sentenced to 5 months prison for purchasing 12 ounces of cocaine from a taxi driver in May 2013. The decision was appealed the same day.

In its decision, the Court of Appeals wrote:

"The Court of Appeals has changed the district court's sentencing decision to probation with 75 hours community service. If prison had been chosen instead, the length would have been two months."
