The woman, in her 30s, was at the BB Sophia clinic in Stockholm. “It was some time during the weekend” says the clinic’s press secretary, Mirjam Kontio to newspaper Aftonbladet.
A sources tells Swedish Television ABC that the clinic’s staff did not notice, since they were so busy taking out the woman’s baby using a suction cup. According to this version it was the child’s father who first noticed that something was wrong.
BB Sophia denies this, saying one of their doctors raised the alarm.
But when the private-run clinic started up doctors were worried it could not handle emergency cases needing intensive care. Stockholm’s county council was criticised for allowing the clinic to be set up, reports SVT.
