Hooligans clash in Gothenburg

Gangs of football hooligans clashed in Gothenburg Saturday night, with around 40 being taken into police custody, newspaper Göteborgs Posten reports.

The majority were supporting the local side IFK Gothenburg, but some Hammarby supporters from Stockholm were also caught by police. Officers say they think the clash between the two sides was planned in advance, with people taking teeth guards with them and wearing logos on their outer clothes.

The first fights broke out in Frölunda, before moving on to central Gotheburg and then to the Haga area at around midnight.
