Man remanded over explosives find

The 43-year-old man who is suspected of leaving a bag of explosives in a cafe at a Stockholm shopping mall last week was remanded into custody by Södertörn district court on Monday.

In a hearing behind closed doors, the man was put on remand on suspicion of planning to cause devastation endangering the public.

The suspect's lawyer, Jan C A Anderson, told news agency TT that he was bound by the terms of confidentiality and would only say that his client denied the charge.

Police arrested a man in the Stockholm suburb of Hägersten on Friday, two days after the explosives were discovered in a shopping mall in Liljeholmen. Nothing exploded and no one was hurt.
