Shot fired in central Stockholm

A shot was fired in central Stockholm Thursday afternoon, and a man was later taken to hospital, news agency TT reports, but police are remaining tight-lipped as to what actually happened.

The shooting took place around 4pm in the upmarket Östermalm district of the capital. A car is said to have sped away following the incident. Around an hour later a man who had been shot went to a local hospital. Police say he is conscious.

A car thought to have been involved was also found near the hospital.

Police say they think someone may have shot at the car and have started an investigation into attempted murder.
