Signal failure slows service through southern Stockholm

Rail service is up and running again in southern Stockholm after a signal failure halted traffic for several hours there on Friday morning.

About 6:30 a.m., trains between Södertälje and Stockholm were at a standstill due to an electrical failure in the area of Flemingsberg.

The problem was eventually fixed and rail service restored shortly before 10 a.m. though delays are still expected throughout the day.

Johan Tjerneng at the Swedish Transport Administration press office told Swedish Radio that it is still unclear what caused the signal error to occur.
