Polar night draws over northern Sweden

In parts of Norrbotten, Sweden's northernmost county, the sun set on Friday and won't be seen again for several weeks.

The phenomenon, known as the polar night, only occurs inside the polar circles and means residents there will experience 24 hours of twilight.

In the municipality of Kiruna, for example, the polar night lasts from Friday until January 31.
