After successfully not being burned to the ground this year, the traditional Christmas Goat in Gävle is being taken down, but then it is off on tour – to China.

This year’s straw goat is 13 meters tall, and weighs 3.6 tons. It is an annual tradition in Gävle, but the goat has only avoided being burned by vandals 14 times in the past 48 years.

Now, after it is dismantled, the goat will be shipped to Zhuhai in southeastern China. It will be up again by February 19th, the start of the Chinese New Year. Not uncoincidently, next year is the Year of the Goat.
