Collision pushes Halfvarsson into third place

Sweden’s Calle Halfvarsson was in the lead in the cross country 15 km Classic Pursuit at the Tour de Ski in Oberstdorf, Germany, Sunday, but after a final stretch collision among several skiers ended up finishing third.

Petter Northug of Norway took the gold, and Canada’s Alex Harvey silver.

According to the Swedish Radio Sports Department, Halfvarsson was knocked off the course by Italy’s Francesco de Fabiani, who then ran into Norway’s Niklas Dyrhaug.

On Saturday the Swede took silver at the Tour de Ski men’s 4k freestyle race.
