Two wolf hunts cancelled

A local administrative court has stopped two planned wolf hunts in Värmland and Örebro counties, which were due to start on Friday, the TT news agency reports.

The decision will remain in force until further notice, although it can be appealed.

The two counties decided to permit the shooting of 24 wolves in Värmland and 12 in Örebro county in November.

In its ruling, the court said that the original decisions to allow the hunts could flout EU law. The court's decision can be overturned by the Court of Appeal in Gothenburg.
