According to RAI news she died at a clinic in Rocca di Papa outside Rome.
Anita Ekberg was born in 1931 in Malmö and grew up with seven siblings. She began her career as a model, and won the Miss Sweden contest in 1951, which took her to the finals of the Miss Universe pagent. Her acting career followed soon afterwards.
She was most famous for her role as Sylvia in Frederico Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita” from 1960, and especially the scene where she bathes in Rome’s Trevi fountain.
