Liberal Party leader Jan Björklund refused to partake in a televised debate with his party colleague yesterday about his new set of proposals meant to ease integration, Swedish Television reports.

Björklund was invited to discuss his new 'integration package' that was presented yesterday with party colleague Frida Johansson Metso, but later refused and asked to be interviewed separately instead.

Björklund said to Swedish Television that they often discuss different kinds of issues within the party but declined a televised debate saying that it would be better if they responded to the questions one at a time.

During the programme, Johansson Metso spoke out strongly against her party leader's new set of proposals and said that they didn't "ring true to the party's soul".
