Liberals want to abolish Alliance "moving tax"

The leader of the Liberals has used his day at Almedalen to criticise a tax that he was part of creating.

The so-called "moving tax" is paid when you make a profit by selling a property, and was brought in by the centre-right Alliance in 2008.

Liberal leader Jan Björklund says this makes more people in late middle age unwilling to move, as they are reluctant to pay so much tax.

He says this has made the housing market more sluggish, making it harder for young people to buy their first property.

"It has to be admitted that, in hindsight this measure was unfortunate," says Jan Björklund to Swedish Radio News.
