Jennie Johansson wins 50 meter breaststroke gold

Swimmer Jennie Johansson clinched the gold medal in the 50 meter breaststroke race at the world championships in Kazan after an impressive finish. The gold is her first long course medal.

Johansson finished the race in 30,05 and broke the previous Swedish record.

"I'm at a loss for words. I can't believe what just happened. When I saw the flashing lights I realized that I had won a medal, but I never imagined I'd won the gold", she said in a teary-eyed interview with Swedish Television shortly after the race.

Shortly after Johansson's gold, Sarah Sjöström won the bronze medal in the 50 meter freestyle race. The medal was Sjöström's fourth in the world championships and Sweden's fifth medal in total.
