New visa rules for some Swedes travelling to the US

Swedes who hold a second passport from Iran, Iraq, Syria or Sudan or Swedish citizens who have visited any of these countries since the 1st of March 2011 will now be required to apply for a visa at a U.S. Embassy to enter the United States.

The new requirements mean that some Swedes will have to apply for a visa instead of an ESTA, and they have been designed to make it more difficult for Europeans who have fought for the Islamic State to enter the U.S.

Journalists, diplomats and aid workers may be exempt from the new visa requirements, reports Swedish Radio News.
