Funding Stalls TB Vaccine

It’s been reported that Swedish researchers developed a vaccine against tuberculosis three years ago, but because of a lack of funding they have not been able to begin human tests.

On the eve of an international conference on TB here in Stockholm, Professor of Bacteriology Stefan Svenson says the problem is no longer scientific, it is political.

He says the government has promised to increase foreign aid next year, and it would be appropriate for some of that funding to help fight a disease that is so serious in the developing world.
