Statuesque Greetings from the Past

Carl von Linné, the Father of Taxonomy continues to surprise.

The ten metre high statue that usually looks out over Humlegården in Stockholm has been hiding a secret for 120 years.

Restoration of the statue has revealed a message in a bottle hidden in the great scientist’s head. The bottle was wrapped in a newspaper from 1884 and experts say it could not be a hoax. The message is a greeting from the six men who cast the statue to their future colleagues.
