In a press release, Ireen von Wachenfeldt said all the focus that’s been on her since she took part in that television report has hurt the organization. She also said both her and her family deserve to make peace with their lives.
Roks is one of Sweden’s largest non-government organizations helping the victims of domestic violence. The local groups affiliated with Roks who demanded her resignation were pleased with the development and critics say she should have left even sooner.
Sympathy comes in the form of Gudrun Schyman, the force behind the Feminist Initiative which hopes to run as a party in next year’s election. She said, ”I have full understanding for her not wanting to be the victim of the hate-campaign directed at her person.”
