A man who manipulated young girls into exposing themselves during conversations over the internet has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

In the largest case of its kind in Sweden, police identified more than 100 victims of the 47-year-old man from Ulricehamn in Västergötland, who has not been named publicly.

“It involves a large number of crimes. He contacted the girls through sources including Skype and Kik and made them undress and perform sexual acts on themselves,” said Swedish Radio’s reporter Joel Wendle.

“They thought he was a young boy or a young girl, so didn’t understand that it is was an older man they were in contact with.”

The man, whose case was heard at Borås District Court, is said to have committed 650 crimes over five years. Most of the victims were aged between 12 and 14.

The man admitted to some of the offences but denied others.
