Steady as she goes despite Luxembourg’s "Yes"

The Swedish Government has said that the ”yes” result in Sunday’s referendum in Luxembourg on whether or not to adopt the proposed EU constitution, will not have an effect on the process in Sweden.

Speaking to reporters, Ylva Johansson - Minister for Health, said the government will stick to its decision to take a timeout on the ratification process for the constitution.

The largest opposition party the Conservative Moderates has however, welcomed the positive result in Luxemburg. Party Vice Chairman, Gunilla Carlsson says she hopes Luxembourg’s ”yes”, coming on the heals of a ”no” result in referendums in France and Netherlands, will re-start debate on what to do with the proposed constitution.
