Despite being declared fit after undergoing a thorough check with all sorts of x-rays on his foot, which was operated on a month ago, the 25 year old feels he won’t have had time to recover in time to do himself justice.
He said he’s already won everything there is to win and he didn’t want to go to the Worlds just to participate. Olsson has hardly competed since winning Olympic gold in Athens last summer. The Swede had ankle surgery in March and last month doctors removed a piece of bone from his right foot.
He’ll now focus on winning the indoor world championships in Moscow next year and then the European Championships here in Sweden. Olsson’s last competition was the IAAF World Athletics Final in Monaco on September 18th.
He is the only triple jumper to have held Olympic, world outdoor, world indoor, European outdoor and European indoor titles simultaneously.
