Teenager suspected of stabbing Stockholm police officer

A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was stabbed in the neck while on patrol near the Medborgarplatsen square in Stockholm on Thursday.
The prosecutor has until noon on Sunday to decide whether or not to demand that the 17-year-old be kept in police custody, according to a press release from the Swedish Prosecution Authority.
No further information was given in the statement as the preliminary investigation is subject to secrecy.
The attack, which was apparently unprovoked, happened at around 10:30am near a park by one of the entrances to the Medborgarplatsen underground station in the Stockholm district of Södermalm.
The police officer was brought to hospital, but did not sustain life-threatening injuries and was discharged the same day. Only the 17-year-old has been arrested in connection to the stabbing.
