Student debt often goes into collections unnecessarily

A CSN (National Board of Student Aid) review found that 86,000 people who had trouble paying back their student debt last year were referred to the national debt default agency - but in more than 40% of those cases, that might have been avoided due to the debt-holders' financial circumstances.
