Eighth case of measles confirmed at Swedish hospital

2:21 min

Gothenburg's Sahlgrenska University Hospital is in a heightened state of readiness after an eighth case of measles was confirmed on Boxing Day.

Extra staff have been called in to help contain the spread of the highly contagious disease.

Anne Olmarker, stand-in director at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, told Radio Sweden that staff members are now trying to track down anyone who may have been exposed to measles at the hospital since the first case was confirmed on December 10th.

"We will probably see a couple more cases because this is a very contagious disease and it's probably outside the hospital now," said Olmarker.
