Terror prosecutor: Akilov trial important for Europe

Published tisdag 13 februari kl 17.39

Prosecutor Hans Ihrman said the trial of an Uzbek man who carried out a terror attack in Stockholm last year is important for all of Europe.

"We can learn about the radicalization process and how people are carrying out these kinds of acts," Ihrman told reporters after the end of the trial's first day.

"I think it's a big interest for everybody who is punished by (attacks) like this throughout Europe."

Rakhmat Akilov killed 5 and injured 15 and has already confessed to the charges. Prosecutors must still prove that what he did on April 7, 2017 should be seen as terrorism.
