Historic America Cruise Terminal reopened in Gothenburg

2:01 min

This week, the Port of Gothenburg cut the ribbon to reopen an old terminal where cruise ships to New York used to depart from, beginning in 1915 and and ending in 1975.

Over 14 million kronor went into refurbishing the America Cruise Terminal, which will now serve as the west-coast city's central cruise terminal after the one at Frihamnen was closed last year to make room for a new city district.

One of the terminal's claims to fame is that Swedish movie star Greta Garbo set sail from there on the ocean liner that would bring her to New York in the mid 1920's.
