New numbers from the Public Employment Service show that unemployment is decreasing, both for people born in Sweden and abroad.

"There's a very strong labor market in Sweden currently, and that helps both people born in Sweden and people that have come to Sweden recently."

The gap is still wide, however. Unemployment among people born in Sweden, has gone down to 3.7 percent, whereas for people born abroad, the figure is 20.5 percent.

Sundén says that subsidized employment within the public sector has been an important way into the labor market for people who have come to Sweden.
