Sweden's largest regional airline Nextjet filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday and cancelled all of its flights scheduled from 1 pm and onward.

Company CEO Magnus Ivarsson said in a statement that the decision was "deeply regrettable" but added that Nextjet's board was forced to take the decision.

"We have done everything in our power to find a solution," Ivarsson said, "but have unfortunately not succeeded."

The company is based at Stockholm's Arlanda airport and services 17 different destinations though most of those are in northern Sweden or neighboring Finland.
