Some companies in Sweden will not have to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation that comes into effect in Friday, and work is underway to find a solution.

The EU legislation aims at protecting personal data within the EU, but some use of personal data is allowed by Sweden's transparency traditions.

According to Sara Malmgren, senior associate and head of the IT department at Foyen Advokatfirma in Stockhom, the government is having a discussion to find a solution for this issue.
