Locals shaken by Malmö city centre shooting

2:51 min

Most shootings in Malmö happen in the suburbs, but Monday evening's triple murder at a central cybercafé was different. Ryan Vasiliades, 25, from Australia, was in the restaurant next door when the shooting began.

"We just heard the gunshots, weren't really sure what it was, thought it might have been fireworks," he says. "Then we looked out of the curtain and everyone was running and screaming."

Vasiliades moved into his flat across the road from the Galaxy Cybercafé just two days before the shooting. He's recently moved to Sweden to join his girlfriend Sara Jungegren.

"It's pretty unsettling, but it's a sort of freak thing. It could have happened anywhere," he says.

Three people were killed in the shooting, two of whom had previously served prison sentences for drug crimes. Police believe the murders are linked to organised crime.
