Green Party wants to increase Sweden's agricultural self-sufficiency

1:49 min

The Green Party’s spokesperson Isabella Lövin focused on the environment, agriculture, and this summer's record temperatures in her Almedalen speech on Sunday.

Lövin said the Green Party wants to increase Swedish agricultural self-sufficiency from 50 to 80 percent. She set no timeframe for when this was to be achieved, though she did announce her party's intention to invest half a billion kronor annually to this end and also to promote organic farming. Around SEK 200 million will go to doubling the support for farmers who want to switch to organic production.
