Races held globally to honour Kim Wall on anniversary of disappearance

2:04 min

It's exactly one year since journalist Kim Wall disappeared. Her murder on board a submarine made headlines all over the world. Today, her mother, Ingrid Wall, tells her story on the Swedish Radio program "Sommar i P1" about the day the family's life was changed forever.

"It would be natural to feel hatred, but that would be too easy- and just make us the losers again," Ingrid Wall tells listeners.

Her family and friends have establised the Kim Wall Memorial Fund which supports female journalists around the world and today in 15 cities, from Stockholm to Peking, people are taking part in charity runs to raise donations to the fund.

In April, Peter Madsen was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Kim Wall, who had gone on board the Dane's submarine for an interview for a story.
