Turnout up, especially in low-voting areas

2:05 min

More people voted in Sunday's election, and the increase seems particularly high in areas that have long had low turnout.

Preliminary figures show a rise of over one percentage point across the board - to 87.1 per cent nationally, which would be the highest in 40 years. But for some areas with high poverty and large immigrant populations the rise was as high as 5 per cent.

Radio Sweden spoke to some of the people who live there or who were involved in getting out the vote.
