The news that Denis Mukwege won the Nobel Peace Prize has delighted Swede Birger Thureson who visited and subsequently wrote a book on the work of the new laureate at his hospital for women in Bukavu.

Birger Thureson tells Radio Sweden how his friend has helped the lives of thousands of women.

"He is a very noble man. At met him 12 years ago at the Panzi hospital about his work with raped women and to see him walking among the beds with the women he was helping and to see how they were, it was amazing," Thureson tells Radio Sweden.
