Another member quits Academy that awards Nobel literature prize

0:46 min

The Swedish Academy has lost another member. Professor Jayne Svenungsson announced on Wednesday that after "carefull consideration," she has vacated her chair on the body that has been marred by sex-abuse and financial crimes scandals.

Professor Jayne Svenungsson is the latest in a line of people to quit or to be forced off the 18-member board of the Swedish Academy since the scandals broke last year.
Svenungsson said she wanted to focus on her full-time job as a university theology professor in Lund.

This year's literature prize has been postponed until 2019 after a scandal at the academy to do with alleged corruption and links to a convicted rapist.
